The mystery of Big Sur is alluring, and, for centuries, people have appreciated the beauty of one of its most precious stones, Nephrite Jade.

This pendant is a beautiful natural oval shaped "clear" stone fastened with a baroque-shaped bead of a similar color -- turquoise. Stones of this color and clarity are fairly difficult to obtain, as collectors rarely offer them for sale. This piece is polished by the ocean. There is a name for this type of polish in every culture. The Burmese call it "Nat-Thwe," which translates to "spirit polished." In some ares, naturally polished pieces are called "wind slicks." In Big Sur, they call it "ocean polished, because the most accessible and active jade vein is submersed. The ocean sees it before we do, and works her magic.

This pendant comes on a para-cord fastened by a manzanita bead. A metal "fob" is included with the maker's mark. The cord color may be changed upon request.

Wear this pendant to keep the strength and beauty of Big Sur with you; or gift this to the one you love.
